This is a small example of the market. There is a lot of information to see.
- First, notice that the listings are just for Abalesk, which is the current city. Remember that each city has a different market.
- There are three buttons to help control the listings.
- Show All is what you are already looking at. This list is unsorted, with the most recent listings at the top of the page. You can click the "Show All" button to refresh the page and see if any new offers have been listed.
- The Listed By You button will show only the products that you have sent to this market. This is a good fast way to see what has and hasn't sold.
- The Find button is very helpful for locating a specific product. Most of the time when you come to market it will be to buy something you need, so you will use this button a lot.
- Below the buttons you can see some of what has been offered for sale. Each offer has lots of information:
- Quantity is how many are available in that listing. You do not have to buy all of them. When you start a purchase, you will be asked how many you want. You can buy as few as 1 if you like.
- The Product is what's for sale. There are over 100 products in Simunomics.
- The next column is Brand Name. Most of the time, companies will sell products with their own brand - but not necessarily. Don't worry about this too much right now though. When you earn the next Level (at Score of 400) you will get a big introduction to brand. Just remember that the same product from different companies may have different brands.
If you look at the line where Bricks are being sold, you will see that it doesn't have a brand name. This is because Bricks is an "Industrial" product - that means the public doesn't buy it, only other businesses do.
If you move your mouse over one of the brand names, a small window will pop up with more information about the brand, including it's slogan. Again, don't concern yourself too much with brand yet. But you may want to browse around and see what other companies have offered.
- Quality Appeal is a measure of how much more desireable a product is due to quality.Things with higher Quality Appeal will fetch higher prices in stores, and as a result often from fellow players too. However, as society advances people tend to expect more. So the appeal of a product may go down over time as the world moves on.
- Seller is the name of the company that put these products on the market. If you sell something, your name will be here.
- The price listed is the Price for Each. For simplicity, the game always talks in price per each, not price per total. On the next page, when you enter how many you want the total will be calculated.
- The last column is where you click if you're sure that's what you want to buy.
- One more important thing to notice on the Motorcycle line. Notice that the seller is Allmart, SSC. Most companies in the are run by a players. But Allmart is a "Simunomics System Company" (SSC).. Allmart makes every product, so they always have some on the market. Don't rely on Allmart as a long-term supplier, but they can provide what you need in a pinch.
- Notice that the Product names and Seller names are in a different color. These are hyperlinks that you can click on (like the buttons) to filter the market.
For example, if you wanted to see everything that "Frank's Farms" is selling, you could just click on the name and the market would reload with only their listings.
The same thing works for products. You can click on a product listed to see only that type. This is the same result you would get with the Find button, only it's a shortcut if you already see one listed.
To continue, let's filter the market for only Motorcycle listings.
